La Aurora, the oldest cigar factory in the Dominican Republic established in 1903, is commemorating its 120th anniversary this year.

In honor of the occasion, they have introduced this limited edition, full-bodied cigar, which comes in a hinged, coffin-style cigar box inspired by the original La Aurora Preferidos that debuted back in 1903. This cigar pays tribute to the distinctive coffin of the first Preferidos #1.

This unique piece is only made from Dominican tobacco and uses a habano 92 wrapper over corojo, olor and piloto cubano fillers. It's the most solemn way to celebrate the 120th Anniversary of this brand. 

Bold cinnamon and cocoa flavors take center stage in this stick, and lingering notes of wood move their way throughout in the background as the cigar wraps up the flavor profile with a citrusy touch in the finish.

The ADN Dominicano contains a very special kind of Dominican tobacco. Commonly known as andullo (an-doo-yaw), this process takes tobacco and places it inside palm tree pods, at which point it is bound and then pressed until a paste-like pile of leaves comes out months later. Extremely rare, and ultra labor intensive, this unique cigar making style originated in the Dominican Republic, and is known for adding strength, aroma, and sweetness to a well-balanced cigar blend.

In this case, the result is a spicy, woody cigar that melds pleasantly with hints of sweetness that segue into a graham cracker finish. This smoke is one hell of a great burner too, with a flawless draw producing columns of smoke. 

La Aurora Barrel Aged is a cigar with a resounding start with hints of black pepper, that later give way to more complex and delicate flavors. In addition, there are notes of wood throughout the whole smoke, along with hints of cinnamon and nuts. It has a powerful, creamy finish.

This cigar is aged for six years before spending another six months aging in barrels of rum. This gives the final cigar its aromatic notes from aging in a barrel, as well as the toasted wood notes.

La Aurora Small Batch is a unique series that combines different blends in very limited quantities. For the third edition, the Small Batch Lot No. 003, the company features a Toro Gordo comprised of an Ecuadorian wrapper over dual binders—Cameroon and Dominican—and fillers from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Peru. This one of kind stick has been aged for 19 years, and yes, you read that right! This is a medium-to-full-bodied cigar with creamy smoke and notes of pepper, roll cake, cinnamon, and hardwood.
