A slightly heady habano cigar, this one leaves nothing to be desired. From beginning to end this Nicaraguan puro comes packed with notes of cedar, tree nuts, and honey, before finishing off with a mellow mineral smoothness.
Moderately priced, and still produced by AJ Fernandez, this old-school-looking habano makes for an excellent EDC smoking option, and favors sweeter attributes over spicier, drier ones. Here at Klaro, we find the torpedo vitola to be particularly good, as it restricts draw flow just a touch, which aids in keeping the smoke cool in nature, all while building an enormous ash along the way.

The JFR Lunatic Habano is an awesomely large, yet rather stubby cigar with big flavor. That is because it uses Aganorsa tobacco inside, which is well-known for its Cuban taste. This comes as no surprise, since they use Cuban-seed varietals and traditional Cuban farming and fermentation methods.
Tasting notes on this pigtailed little beast include roasted nuts, earth, toast, and light roast coffee, all of which earned this blend a #7 spot in 2018 and a 93-point rating from Cigar Aficionado.

If you like a tropical-tasting blend that brings more citrus, cedar, and vanilla than corojo spice to the tongue, then this blend is for you. Rare as can be, and featuring higher primings off the tobacco plant, as well as a fair deal more age, the 10th Anniversary version of Pepper Cream Soda by Caldwell Cigar Co. is one of those obscure stogies that collectors and boutique blend snobs seek out.

The Napoleon Maduro is a commanding 9-inch Royal Salomon from El Septimo’s Emperor Collection, a line dedicated to history’s most sovereign rulers. Draped in a dark, oily Maduro wrapper over an Ecuadorian Habano binder and a four-country filler blend, it delivers deep espresso and dark cocoa notes with chocolate and spice — surprisingly smooth and approachable despite its imposing size. The Napoleon pairs exceptionally well with cognac and suits both quiet contemplation and grand occasions.

A staple of the Caldwell collection, the corojo version of Long Live the King is all red leaf on the outside, as well as on the binder, followed by a dash more corojo in the filler, but this time courtesy of the ligero priming off the upper portions of the tobacco plant. Then, just for those craving even more flavor and intensity, comes an additional smack of ligero habano leaf straight from Nicaragua, and then a touch of Pelo de Oro out of Peru in the filler. Translated to "Hair of Gold," the latter of these is an heirloom Cuban-seed tobacco varietal that is best known for its sweet, pungent aromatics and fruity tropical flavors.
Continuously corojo throughout, but a bit more milky and nutty than just tea, citrus, and spice at first, this blend threads the needle with ease. Traditional red leaf tobacco tastes on the outside, and a far more creamy, nougat and vanilla-filled center underneath, every pull, retrohale, exhale, and aftertaste within this cigar is pure smoking bliss.

Unique from cap to foot, this hexagon box-pressed cigar earned itself a spot as the Top 10 cigar at Cigar Aficionado in 2017 thanks to its unusual construction and bold flavors. Although the blend utilized to make this bolder Black version of the Alma Fuerte line remains entirely undisclosed, we do know that it is 100% Plasencia farmed down in Nicaragua, and that the tobacco that makes it all possible is aged for at least a decade.
Heaping rich, syrupy flavors of molasses on the tongue, and then leaving the palate and nose with a smooth, mineral and leather finish, this medium-to-full blend is unlike anything else we stock at Klaro.
Crafted to mimic the iconic honeycomb, Plasencia claims that the shape of the cigar itself serves a functional purpose, as it helps channel smoke flow and encourages a cooler burn. Regardless of whether or not you buy that bit of marketing jargon, you cannot ignore the fact that this vitola is a looker, and it has the blend cred to back up all those creased good looks. Six sides, six points, and a fatty 60 ring-gauge all in one place amount to one hell of a first impression.
