After years of stocking the 10th Anniversary Champagne Connecticut and the 10th Anniversary Sun Grown from Perdomo Cigars, Klaro has decided to bring the entire  20th Anniversary Series line from the Nicaraguan brand into its collection.

This is the same celebratory cigar line that scored Perdomo "Cigar of the Year" in 2014 from Cigar Journal, and solidified its place as one of the premier bourbon barrel-aged master blenders on the planet. That is because each of these three cigars receives even more barrel aging than the original 10th Anniversary line, and comes packed with even older tobacco.

How old, you ask? According to Perdomo, every leaf used to make the 20th Anniversary a reality receives no less than eight years of aging and fermentation. This is made possible thanks to the all-Nicaraguan internal blend being from a higher-priming of leaves off the tobacco plant. Furthermore, Perdomo remains hellbent on using only its top Cuban-seed strains for the binder and filler tobaccos used in each cigar, resulting in what it refers to as a "balanced complexity with layers of rich flavors and smooth, elegant aromas."

Perdomo 20th Anniversary Connecticut

Utilizing an 8-year-old Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper that has undergone at least 8 months of bourbon barrel aging, the 20th Anniversary Connecticut is the next evolutionary step in the Perdomo Champagne Series. Sweet, creamy, and characterized by the caramelized sugars that make shade-wrapped smokes so spectacular, this is one of those light cigars that doesn't hold back on flavor or smoke production thanks to all of that Cuban-seed goodness stuffed inside. 

While we have yet to conduct an official Klaro review of this blend, Perdomo's tasting notes include cedar, toasted almonds, buttery caramel, and light coffee, all complemented by subtle hints of spice and a naturally sweet finish.

Perdomo 20th Anniversary Sun Grown

Like the shade-wrapped blend above, the 20th Anniversary Sun Grown from Perdomo features an 8-year-old wrapper. But this time around it's Cuban-seed and Nicaraguan, with a far more "sun-kissed disposition."

Due to its tougher nature, that meaty, sun-grown wrapper gets even more time inside of a bourbon barrel, with an additional 10 months of downtime inside a cask being the norm.  For the sake of balance, even higher primings are pulled off the tobacco plant to make the Cuban-seed Nicaraguan binder and filler mixture tick all the boxes, with that signature oak tannin touch being the top tasting note. Altogether, one can expect strong notes of cedar, medium-roast coffee, Nicaraguan rainforest floor, sweet baking spices, and touches of cocoa and toffee. 

Perdomo 20th Anniversary Maduro

And then we come to the big boy on the block: The Perdomo 20th Anniversary Maduro. While its 8-year-old Cuban-seed Nicaraguan wrapper may have the same amount of age placed upon it as the first two blends, the fermentation process that makes this chocolate bar of a cigar a reality is nothing short of spectacular. Adding even more intrigue to the topic is the fact that this maduro wrapper gets a full 14 months in bourbon barrels, resulting in an even sweeter, creamier smoking experience.

Packing a proprietary mixture of higher-primings from Perdomo's top Cuban-seed farms, the binder and filler blend balances the bittersweet chocolate and espresso touches from the wrapper with roasted tree nuts, hints of black pepper, and darker, loamier soil-like depths.
