To kick off 2025 in grand fashion, we have decided to make the "Toro Grande" version of Goldie by La Palina the Klaro Cigar of the Month for January, 2025. While it may contain the same ingredients as the regular Goldie that many have come to adore, the vitola itself is extremely rare. First teased at the La Palina booth at PCA 2024 as the "Goldie TBD," this blend is now known as the La Palina Goldie "Toro Grande," a notably larger version that measures 6¼ inches long with a 54 ring gauge.
Furthermore, only 500 boxes have been produced at El Titan de Bronze in Miami for this special vitola, making it one of the most exclusive smokes we have scored in recent months.

While Sam Paley founded La Palina way back in 1896, the La Palina Goldie collection was not introduced until well over a century later, in 2012. Intended to honor the role of women in the cigar industry through the name of Mr. Paley's wife, Goldie, this one-of-a-kind cigar is blended with Medio Tiempo leaf, which is found in just 10% of all tobacco plants.
Despite the binder being of an undisclosed variety from Ecuador, we do know that the filler comes from both Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. As for the wrapper, that remains an Ecuadorian Habano specimen, and a really light and silky one at that. Combined, this creates a smoke that is peppery and nutty with a finish that is filled with hardwood tannins, dry cocoa powder, walnut, and fermented hay.
All together, this is one extremely special Habano cigar from Nicaragua you won't want to miss!
