Global Premium Cigars Now on Sale at Klaro! Explore These Ultra-Aged, Small Batch & Super Boutique Blends

With more than a dozen years of sales growth on its resume, and products in more countries than we care to count, one would think that Global Premium Cigars (GPC) would be a widely recognized name here in North America. Yet somehow this Nicaraguan boutique cigar company has remained under most cigar smokers' radar, at least all the way up until they see a cigar band or box with the following four digits emblazoned upon it: 1502.

Primarily supplied and produced by Plasencia Cigars and its Nicaraguan operations, GPC prides itself on its Nicaraguan heritage. So much so that founder Enrique Sánchez always takes a Nicaraguan flag to events, with his 1502 line being named after the year Christopher Columbus arrived in Nicaragua on his fourth and final transcontinental trip.

Now as for the name, Global Premium Cigars, that too has great significance, and in its own regard is also transcontinental. Sánchez's mission from day one was to sell his premium cigars to as many countries globally as possible, and to help achieve this lofty goal he recently brought on Jaime Flórez-Estrada to serve as the company's "Global Chief Growth Officer." With over a quarter of a century of experience in the tobacco game, with quite a few of those being executive leadership roles for companies like Drew Estate, it seems like Jaime is the right cat for the job too.

So while our little Q&A session with Jaime from PCA 2025 will fill you in on the details, below you will find some product details highlighting each of the 1502 blends that we have started stocking and what they have to offer. Finally, note that yes, we do have a very special GPC cigar (or two) in the pipeline just for our Klaro Members, including the 18-year aged XO teased in the video.

Global Premium Cigars 1502

In the meantime, please enjoy our personal picks from the GPC 1502 line, all of which are absolutely exquisite in their own unique way, and are 100% Plasencia-grade all day. While they may be quite different from one another, all three cigars have received no less than five years of continued care and are as premium as it comes. From the moment the seeds are sown to the time in which they are boxed up for sale, and every millisecond in between, each stage in the GPC stogie producing process is completed with the utmost care. And the final result is something you have to experience to believe...

To create the smooth, distinctive flavor profile of the 1502 Emerald Torpedo, only the best heavily-aged tobacco leaves were chosen. The result is a delicious, light-tan wrapper made of Nicaraguan Corojo de Habano Nicaragua seed layered atop a Nicaraguan binder and long-filler leaves from Mexico and Nicaragua.

This mild-medium bodied stick contains fruity notes aplenty and is known for having a soothing vanilla scent that is accompanied by a palate-pleasing sweetness. Per usual, Global Premium Cigars' 1502 Emerald is crafted by Plasencia Cigars in Nicaragua, with about 85% of the tobaccos in the blend hailing from Nicaragua.

That Colorado Rosado-colored wrapper you see slapped on the outside of this medium-strength stick is actually an Ecuador-grown habano leaf from the Oliva family. The blend also includes one ligero leaf inside for added kick, and is comprised primarily of viso leaves instead of milder seco for a more vibrant cigar flavor profile.

The result is a superbly made premium cigar blend that is both aesthetically stunning and tasty, with its earthy, woody, and nutty flavors making the 1502 Ruby a treasure once lit. It is also an outstanding burner, which is no surprise being that Plasencia handles production down in Nicaragua.

The boldest cigar in the 1502 line exudes a warm, nutty, woodsy scent with hints of sweetness, baking spice, and chili peppers. The all-Nicaraguan ligero double binder adds a massive amount of strength and flavor to the cigar smoking experience, as the addition of a little bit of San Andrés in the filler matches harmoniously with the oily Mexican maduro wrapper's cigar flavor profile.

If you like strong cigars, you’ll definitely love this one. This particular cigar is made to satisfy the discerning smoker who enjoys bold flavors, as this smoke leans toward more of an Estelí representation of what a cigar should be. Per usual, this smoke is handmade in Nicaragua at the Plasencia Cigars factory for Global Premium Cigars.
